ABOUT HAL

A 2007 car accident left Hal paralyzed from the neck down — doctors gave him a 1–3% chance of walking again. He decided early on the prognosis wouldn't be the story. He co-founded The Be Perfect Foundation and went on to build The Perfect Step from a converted racquetball court into a 20,000 sq ft neurological recovery center.

Organizational Story

Building What Doesn’t Exist Yet

A city skyline during sunset with tall skyscrapers, including the KL Tower and Petronas Towers, under a warm orange sky.

This presentation follows the creation of The Perfect Step — from a converted racquetball court to a nationally recognized neurological recovery center serving individuals living with paralysis and spinal cord injuries.

Through stories of advocacy, fundraising, leadership failures, community-building, and long-term vision, Hal shares what it truly takes to build something meaningful when resources, certainty, and conventional pathways don’t exist.

Ideal for entrepreneurial audiences, nonprofit organizations, mission-driven teams, and leadership summits focused on innovation, culture, and purpose-centered growth.

Keynote Experience

Turning Adversity Into Purpose

Nighttime city skyline with a tall, uniquely shaped skyscraper illuminated with blue lights and a spire on top, set against a purple-tinged sky and distant mountains.

Built around the aftermath of Hal’s 2007 spinal cord injury, this keynote explores what happens when the future you planned disappears overnight — and how purpose can still be rebuilt from uncertainty, frustration, and limitation.

Rather than focusing solely on motivation, the presentation walks audiences through the emotional realities of recovery, leadership, identity, and perseverance while offering a practical framework for navigating pressure, setbacks, and reinvention.

Frequently delivered to leadership conferences, healthcare organizations, universities, and nonprofit events, this talk balances emotional storytelling with actionable perspective that audiences continue discussing long after the session concludes.
